This remarkably well-constructed and comfortable folding chair is clearly inspired by Hans Wegner’s famous rope chairs (CH 25 & 27 and PP-512). This chair synthesizes the best elements of Wegner’s work in a single piece. The brass hardware and the matte black finish are chic details.
A Wegner chair from the same period will easily cost $3,500. This example, by an anonymous craftsman is considerably less expensive and excellent value. The woven rope seat and back are taut and in overall immaculate condition.
