VASA MIHICH "RAINBOW PARALLELOGRAM", 2001

Vasa Mihich is a renowned artist who is known for his sleek, colorful and captivating acrylic sculptures.

His best sculptures are composed of geometric planes of different colors suspended in acrylic.

Like the best examples of Vasa Mihich's work, with each turn or new position the "Rainbow Parallelogram" is placed in, different colors, patterns, and perspectives emerge, overlap, or recede.

Caviar20 has long championed Vasa Mihich; both his opened editioned pieces, his major sculptures and smaller vintage pieces.

This prismatic parallelogram sculpture is a excellent example of Vasa's practice, in both color arrangement and shape. Tiers of alternating candy colors stack on top of each other, appearing as slim slices of vibrant color from straight on, but taking on greater size and clarity when viewed from above or below. When seen from the side the colors merge becoming active and recalling the best Op Art painting arrangements.

This work is ideal size. It has major presence standing, whether on a plinth, desk or mantle and equally fascinating on one its sides.

Vasa was a Senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he has taught color theory for many years.

For nearly nearly 50 years he has been working in acrylics; whether on canvas or through sculpture.
