VASA MIHICH "TOTEM 84" SCULPTURE, 1984
This impressive "Totem" sculpture is the largest Vasa Mihich work Caviar20 has handled to date. Standing at over 7 feet tall it is a dramatic example of Vasa's mastery of his signature acrylic prism creations.
A work that is difficult to photograph, as each angle or viewpoint reveals or conceals different colors. Similarly, the light sources that surround the work affect how the colors are perceived.
Each of the three sides of the triangular form are different; one is apparently clear, one side appears as an ombre affect that starts as tangerine rising up to magenta/pink, the other side crowns as sky blue but descends into a warm grape color.
This is a particularly excellent example from an important era in Vasa's career. Sculptures of this size do not come on the market frequently.
Caviar20 has long championed Vasa Mihich; both his major sculptures and smaller vintage pieces alike. He remains one of the best Los Angeles sculptors to emerge in the late 1960's working in acrylic.
