Frank Stella

Frank Stella is one of the most influential American artists of the 20^th century. Beginning in the 1950s, Stella innovated with hard-edge, geometric forms. His radically dynamic geometries inspired a generation of artists to abandon gestural painting and Abstract Expressionism in favor of minimal and conceptual practices. In the late 1960s, Stella embraced printmaking. His inventive and iconic prints, created at Gemini G.E.L in Los Angeles, contributed to the revival of printmaking in the United States.

After a massive retrospective at The Whitney Museum in 2015, Stella’s position in the historical canon was cemented. The market immediately responded and his crimson-gridded canvas, “Delaware Crossing” (1961) set an auction record of $13.7 million. Caviar20 focuses on early (pre-1981) Frank Stella prints.
