General Idea: 25 Years 25 Works

Caviar20 is excited to open General Idea: 25 Years 25 Works, our second exhibition dedicated to the iconic Canadian collective.

This inimitable trio created works in a wide range of materials while confronting an array of social themes, including the pharmaceutical industry, queer identity, the AIDS epidemic and consumerism. Their approach was always loaded with irony, mischief and humor, and they excelled at creating distinct icons decades before the concept of personal branding.

Mirroring the diversity of their oeuvre, our exhibition contains everything from early ephemera to major paintings.
