Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer (b. 1950) is known internationally for using text, whether original or quoted, to confront global issues including power structures, gender inequality, and corrupt governments. She established her reputation in the early 80's with her famed "Truisms" and "Inflammatory Essays", which she first postered around New York City and then in numerous cities beyond.

Jenny Holzer's unique and expansive version of public art includes text projections, billboards, and LED signs to mention a few. Many of her most iconic works are large scale and temporal. Holzer has also created a wide range of unconventional objects bearing her provocative messages including Pencils, puzzles, plates, photographs, and clothing. While her medium is varied her use of text, whether folky, menacing, humorous, or political is consistent and profound. Caviar20 remains one of the only galleries to be focused on Jenny Holzer multiples and editions.
