Caviar20 is excited to be offering this impressive resin sculpture by the inimitable Louise Nevelson - one of the most revered and unique sculptors of the 20th century. 

Her work has had an undeniable influence on a host of significant artists including Tony Cragg and Louise Bourgeois. 

Over the last few years there has been tremendous momentum in the renewed interest and appreciation of her work. In November of 2014, a new auction record of just below $1 million was established for one of Nevelson's signature black construction sculptures. 

We've also noticed that more and more public collections are re-installing her works in displays from their permanent collections (the Whitney in New York City, the AGO in Toronto and the Pérez Art Museum in Miami are notable examples)

Like the best of Nevelson's work "Symphony Three" alludes to tribal art, cubism and utopian or post-apocalyptic architecture.

In the 1970's Nevelson experimented with a wide range of materials and techniques including steel, lucite, pulp paper and resin. She completed a small number of resin multiples which gave the illusion of her signature three-dimensional collage aesthetic. However in works like "Symphony Three" the surfaces are uniform and the color her favorite matte-black. This work is the largest of the resin sculptures.
