Robert Motherwell (1915–1991) was one of the most important artists defining Abstract Expressionism.
Printmaking was an essential part of his practice. In addition to working with the leading printmaking studios, he created his own personal dedicated studio in Connecticut.
Motherwell explored or mastered almost every type of printmaking. During his lifetime he created over 500 editions. The aesthetic of his prints is incredibly varied; from bold and gestural to calm and minimal.
