VASA MIHICH "GENEVA RAINBOW" SCULPTURE, 2002

Like the best examples of Vasa Mihich's work, with each turn or new position the "Geneva Rainbow" is placed in, different colors, patterns, and perspectives emerge, overlap, or recede.

Because of it's dynamic positioning this sculpture can be positioned horizontally, vertically, or even lay flat. This design is a favorite of Vasa's; he create an open edition sold by SF MoMA called "Swiss Bar".

Straight on, "Geneva Rainbow" resembles a model of a happy Modernist apartment with tiers of alternating candy colors. But seen from the side the colors merge becoming active and recalling the best Op Art painting arrangements.

Similarly, depending on how you illuminate the piece, whether with natural light or electric from above - the colors take on different intensities with varying translucency.

This work is an ideal size. It has major presence standing, whether on a plinth, desk or mantle and equally fascinating on one its sides.

Vasa was a Senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he has taught color theory for many years.

For nearly nearly 50 years he has been working in acrylics; whether on canvas or through sculpture.

Reward yourself and add this prize-worthy sculpture to your collection.
